Shopping mall, Auckland Airport, est. 2024
Mānawa Bay
PROJECT OVERVIEW
Mānawa Bay is an outlet shopping centre situated in Auckland, New Zealand. It features over 100 retail outlets, dining establishments, and spacious, well-lit areas in the dining section, all housed within a 35,000m² structure designed in a figure-of-eight configuration that symbolizes the themes of flight and aviation. The centre is conveniently located near Auckland Airport, at the intersection of Tom Pearce Drive and Jimmy Ward Crescent.
Mānawa Bay incorporates more than 170 Parkwood doors and frames.
These include a variety of Garrison egress personnel FL, FL4, and FL5 doors, as well as Resolute 40 FL and FL4 doors, along with Garrison 75 and Garrison 100 frames.

External Egress PA Doors
The Garrison egress personnel (PA) doors were selected because of the higher levels of security, stability and strength. They are made of 100% aluminium.
Other PA doors have timber or foam in their structure, meaning they can break down over time and are prone to bow and twist in the weather, especially when painted dark colours and exposed to all-day sun (as was the case in this project).
The matching Garrison frames are far more robust, made from thicker aluminium extrusions, and are available in different modular configurations, meaning they suit a wide variety of PA uses, wall types and are far easier and faster to install. This all saves cost and resources.
Internal Utility Doors
The Resolute interior doors were used because they are the superior option for wet areas, hygiene areas and high-traffic thoroughfares. The back end of shopping malls are extremely busy places with incoming stock and pallet trolleys moving in and getting distributed in confined spaces. The use of these back-end passageways and the durability of the Parkwood Resolute doors means that the larger, open spaces for customers and foot traffic are not encumbered with goods trolleys and deliveries.
The Resolute doors were also used on kitchens and sculleries that serviced the food court as they are waterproof and easy to keep clean, and they resist the wear and tear of food and cleaning trolleys
Finishes
The predominant finishes for the Garrison doors and frames are Matt Ironsand and Matt Sandstone Grey. These modern powder coat finishes are very durable and have excellent colour-retention warranties.
While the Resolute doors were provided unpainted, complemented by Matt Charcoal Garrison 75 frames.
